Introduction of Foreign Species
Introduction of foreign species simply means that an animal or plant that is not native to a certain area somehow ends up there, and proceeds to interrupt the ecosystem. The red lionfish is an invasive species, meaning it is starting to be found in ecosystems where it doesn't belong. Native to the Indian Ocean, they are now found all over the Carribean Sea and Eastern coast of the United States and Mexico. Lionfish have no predators in this area, so their population is rapidly increasing. This causes the populations of fish they prey on to decrease.
Kudzu is a very well-known invasive plant species.
